Easter Services at St John’s
Holy Week is just around the corner - click here for a guide to this important time of worship - and we’ve love if you could join us for services. If there’s someone in your life who’s interested in Christianity or simply looking for company over Easter, bring them along! Our services are welcoming, easy to follow, and grounded in the Anglican tradition.
Palm Sunday, 24th March - Today we mark Jesus’ humble entrance into Jerusalem, riding a donkey and cheered on by crowds waving palms and crying ‘Hosanna’. Our 10am Sunday service will begin outside on the lawn at the Regent Street entrance (weather permitting!).
Maundy Thursday, 28th March - On Maundy Thursday we remember Jesus’ command to love and serve each other. This is symbolised by a ceremonial washing of feet. Foot washing is optional at our 7pm Communion service but you are welcome to take part if you wish! After the Eucharist, the church will be dimmed and decorations removed as we prepare to observe Christ’s crucifixion.
Good Friday, 29th March - On Good Friday, St John’s joins the Lakefield community in an interfaith Walk of the Cross. This will begin at the United Church on Regent Street at 10am, proceeding around the block and culminating in an 11am service at the Lakefield Baptist Church, also on Regent Street.
Holy Saturday, 30th March - There is no designated service this day but the church will be open for prayer 9:30am - 11:30am.
Easter Sunday, 31st March - Christ is risen, alleluia! Today we celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord with a joyful service at 10am.
