St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, in the historic village of Lakefield, Ontario, is seeking a music director
familiar with the Anglican liturgy and comfortable with a wide variety of
sacred music styles, from classical to contemporary. An electronic Phoenix organ was installed in 2005, and
the congregation at St. John's includes several talented musicians
(trained vocalists, organists, instrumentalists, a senior choir and a
contemporary music group). The new musicdirector
will be asked to coordinate and build upon these musical strengths. The
congregation is committed to developing a strong music program for both the
church and the wider community. This is an ideal position for a person willing
to build an eclectic music program for a small, but dedicated, congregation.

Our Organ
Historically, organ music has been an important part of our worship at St. John's. Even though our services now often include other musical instruments, our organ is central to our music and worship.
We currently have a wonderful electronic Phoenix organ that was installed in 2005. Several people play the organ on a regular basis. Although the former pipe organ was removed prior to installation of our electronic organ, we kept some of our organ pipes even though they are no longer functional.
